Our Office’s Safety Precautions
We have always practiced state of the art infection control and want to share with you the recent additions to our policies and procedures that will help to keep everyone safe. We have implemented these changes using guidance from the American Dental Association, the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the North Carolina Board of Dental Examiners. Some of the highlights include:
- As we are working to go paperless during this time, we request all forms be completed prior to the appointment. You will receive an email or text with the link beforehand.
- We will ask parents and patients to remain in their vehicles until 5 minutes before their appointment.
- We ask that only one adult accompany a patient to their appointment.
- We will ask all parents and patients over the age of three to cover their face with a facial mask or cloth covering while in the building. If needed, we will provide a mask upon arrival.
- If your child is comfortable entering the treatment areas without you, you are welcome to wait in your vehicle during the appointment or in the hallway. We have closed our waiting room.
- Please only bring children that have appointments scheduled. If you have additional children with you, we ask that they wait in the car with you during their sibling's treatment time.
- We have added sneeze guards at each check-in and check-out station and in between the chairs in our open bay.
- We will communicate with you before your appointment to ask some screening questions. You will be asked those same questions when you arrive.
- Please use the hand sanitizer at the check-in stations when you arrive.
- Because magazines and toys are difficult to disinfect, they have been removed. We have also turned off our gaming systems.
- Our Clinical Staff will be wearing additional Personal Protective Equipment (PPE). These include face shields, surgical masks, respirator masks and surgical gowns.
- We have HEPA air filters in all areas to filter aerosols in our restorative room.
- We will be frequently disinfecting commonly touched surfaces in the patient lobby and in the treatment areas.
- Please practice social distancing in the building and maintain six feet between you and other patient families.
- We have adjusted our schedule to limit the number of patients in our office.
If you have an appointment schedule within the next few weeks, please contact our office if you experience any of the following symptoms as we may ask you to reschedule.
- Are you currently awaiting the results of a COVID-19 test?
- Do you have a fever?
- Do you have any shortness of breath?
- Do you have a dry cough?
- Do you have a runny nose?
- Do you have a sore throat?
- Do you have sneezing, watery eyes, and/or sinus pain/pressure that is unusual and not related to seasonal allergies?
- Have you experienced headaches, fatigue, or weakness?
- Have you lost your sense of taste and/or smell?
- Have you given your child Tylenol in the last 24 hours?
How can you prevent contracting or spreading COVID-19?
- Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for 20 seconds. If you do not have access to soap and water, use alcohol-based hand sanitizer.
- Maintain at least six feet of distance between yourself and anyone who is coughing or sneezing.
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
- Cover your mouth and nose when you cough or sneeze. Do not use your hands.
- Stay home if you feel unwell. If you have a fever, cough, or difficulty breathing, seek medical attention and call in advance. Calling in advance will allow your healthcare provider to quickly direct you to the right health facility.
